The department is known for empowering learners to produce professional accounting records and reports with enriched competences in finance. The department produces learners who are well balanced in handling accounting and finance issues both at Diploma and Bachelor levels. The department pioneered the programme of Accounting and Finance in Uganda. The National Council for Higher Education team that generated the minimum standards for this programme benchmarked Kyambogo University. Indeed, students who pursue this programme from Kyambogo University receive the highest number of exceptions on the professional ACCA courses. Currently, the department has over 3,600 students in total.
As the economy grows, the demand for dynamic accountants and financial analysts becomes highly elastic. Many projects are undertaken, and all these needs trained manpower in contemporary accounting and finance areas to ensure that they are viable and can be sustained.
