The School of Management and Entrepreneurship (hereafter referred to as The School) started in 2009 after being upgraded from the Department of Business Studies which hitherto was under the Faculty of Vocational Studies. The Department of Business Studies started in 1975 under the former National Teachers College, Kyambogo with a mandate to train business teachers for secondary schools. Following the recommendations of review and restructuring exercise, the University Council adopted a new University structure in August 2020. Hence, the School currently has four Departments namely: Finance, Accounting and Micro-Finance; Business Administration and Entrepreneurship; Management and Administrative Sciences (includes Secretarial Studies) and Procurement and Supply Chain Management.


The School trains students in its undergraduate and graduate programmes. The School was the pioneer in training the Bachelor of Accounting & Finance; Bachelor of Procurement & Logistics Management and the Bachelor of Management Science degree programmes in Uganda and arguably East Africa. These programmes have since gained international recognition. Graduates from the School are accorded several exemptions when they pursue professional programmes such as ACCA, CIPS & CPA. Our best students in the Bachelor of Accounting & Finance are awarded certificates of recognition from ACCA and the Institute of Internal Auditors awards certificates of recognition for the best students in the Bachelor of Management Science.

In cognizance of the multi-skilled demand of our graduates nationally, regionally, and internationally, the School has embedded cross-cutting courses in all its undergraduate programmes. These cross-cutting courses include fundamentals of accounting, principles of management, entrepreneurship, human resource management, procurement principles, business computing, research methods, and business quantitative methods.

The School has adopted a blended learning approach in its teaching and learning. Face-to-face sessions are blended with e-learning methodologies. Further, in preparation of our students for the world of work, supervised work/organizational-based internship is compulsory for all our undergraduate students in their final year. The School has been able to attract, develop and retain competent Lecturers and Researchers in various management and entrepreneurship disciplines.


The School has the following collaborations: Wadhwani Foundation based in California USA; Start Hub Africa which supports capacity building in innovation and entrepreneurship; HEED-Africa (Harmonization of Entrepreneurship Education for Sustainable Development); ACCA and Institute of Internal Auditors.

UCC Kabale is affiliated to Kyambogo University. If offers the Bachelor of Accounting & Finance as well as Bachelor of Business Administration programmes based in the School.

Kyambogo University has two learning centers in Bushenyi and Soroti. These centers offer the Bachelor of Accounting & Finance as well as Bachelor of Business Administration programmes based in the School.


The School has a 150 seater Conference Room; 135 seater computer laboratory; 30 seater Resource Center and a 20 seater Board Room.

The Department of Accounting and Finance is known for empowering learners with appropriate technical, innovation, teamwork, and communication competencies needed to produce professional accounting and finance records, reports, and decisions.

Department of Business Administration and Entrepreneurship

The Department of Business Administration and Entrepreneurship formerly started as a section of Administrative and Secretarial Studies under the Department of Business Studies in the Faculty of Vocational Studies.

Department of Management Science

We equip students with knowledge and skills in Management related Disciplines that will prepare them for the current Dynamic Environment.

Department of Procurement and Marketing

The Department pioneered procurement training in Uganda and arguably East Africa. In 2004, it partnered with the Royal Netherlands government under the NUFFIC/NPT project in infrastructure and staff capacity building.
